New Age Bianco: From Argentina, this wine is an epic summer treat. Serve this over ice with a lime, and you have what is called a tincho.

Viognier: Grown mostly in France, this varietal is made for chicken, white fish, and grilled vegetables. Good Viognier is like velvet on your palate with enough acidity to quench your thirst.

Rose: Not to be confused with White Zinfandel. Rose is a dry, fruit forward, elegant summer treat. With its rich raspberry and strawberry flavors Rose is perfect for that warm summer night as a patio quaffer.

Garnacha: (or Grenache if you’re in France) When thinking of a great summer red that wont over power and dry out your mouth, look no further than Garnacha. This varietal is almost a rich Pinot Noir with some spice. Like Viognier a good Garnacha will dance across your palate and leave you wanting more. Great wine for Pork Bbq.

Shiraz: Ultimate varietal for heavy summer grilling. Shiraz has a black pepper element that is tantalizing with red meat. With its dark fruit and round mouth feel this wine becomes best friends with beautifully grilled lamb chops.

With summer in our midst it’s time to talk about some fun summer drink options. We’ll start with Sangria… Aka wine punch. Typical of Spain or Portugal, sangria is usually made with wine, chopped fruit, sweetener, and brandy. There is no specific recipe for sangria. The best sangria is made by feel, taste testing, and personal preference. Our favorite wines for sangria are as follows; For Red: Tempranillo, Merlot, or Garnacha. For white: Vihno Verde, Sauvignon Blanc, or Viognier. These wines will be a bit more bold and pair well with citrus fruits in your batch. Cheers to Summer!

Obsessed, and that’s an understatement. Whether it’s the allure of these often unknown varietals, or the enticing taste once one hits your tongue I’m not sure. Spanish Reds Need Some Love! Up until recently Spanish varietals have been used mostly for bargain wine. Don’t let that fool you, if you know what to look for you won’t be disappointed. Here’s what you need to know:

Tempranillo is the backbone to many Spanish Reds. It doesn’t have a distinct varietal flavor so it very often is blended (this doesn’t mean straight Tempranillo is boring by any means). It does very well with oak ageing.

Garnacha (or in France Grenache) is the 2nd most widely planted grape. If you’re a fan of Pinot Noir this is another varietal for you. Spanish Garnacha can be masculine, feminine, bold, or timid. It’s a palate teaser that aims to please.

If it says Rioja, Toro, Rueda, Navarra, or Priorat on the label. BUY IT.

Wine. A multi colored, alcoholic, fermented liquid usually made from grapes. Trend setter by nature this fanciful liquid resides in every nook, cranny, and south facing slope in the world. Whether red, white, pink, oak aged, or stainless its flavors are tantalizingly different in every bottle.

This is why we are here. Astonishingly Amazing Juice.

Wine is a historian, a geographer, an agriculturalist, a chemist, a teacher, and a friend.

In this blog, Wine will take us on a journey. A journey to grow, learn, and experience.

There will be jargon of varietal, terrior, tannin, and teinturiers. There will be melancholy feelings of leaving everyday life behind for a taste of something exotic. There will be bad bottles. There will be great bottles.

We hope to give Wine what it deserves. Truth.

Read, Enjoy, Journey, Love. Here’s to Wine.
