Wine. A multi colored, alcoholic, fermented liquid usually made from grapes. Trend setter by nature this fanciful liquid resides in every nook, cranny, and south facing slope in the world. Whether red, white, pink, oak aged, or stainless its flavors are tantalizingly different in every bottle.

This is why we are here. Astonishingly Amazing Juice.

Wine is a historian, a geographer, an agriculturalist, a chemist, a teacher, and a friend.

In this blog, Wine will take us on a journey. A journey to grow, learn, and experience.

There will be jargon of varietal, terrior, tannin, and teinturiers. There will be melancholy feelings of leaving everyday life behind for a taste of something exotic. There will be bad bottles. There will be great bottles.

We hope to give Wine what it deserves. Truth.

Read, Enjoy, Journey, Love. Here’s to Wine.

Obsessed, and that’s an understatement. Whether it’s the allure of these often unknown varietals, or the enticing taste once one hits your tongue I’m not sure. Spanish Reds Need Some Love! Up until recently Spanish varietals have been used mostly for bargain wine. Don’t let that fool you, if you know what to look for you won’t be disappointed. Here’s what you need to know:

Tempranillo is the backbone to many Spanish Reds. It doesn’t have a distinct varietal flavor so it very often is blended (this doesn’t mean straight Tempranillo is boring by any means). It does very well with oak ageing.

Garnacha (or in France Grenache) is the 2nd most widely planted grape. If you’re a fan of Pinot Noir this is another varietal for you. Spanish Garnacha can be masculine, feminine, bold, or timid. It’s a palate teaser that aims to please.

If it says Rioja, Toro, Rueda, Navarra, or Priorat on the label. BUY IT.
